The Power of Gratitude!

[00:00:45] One beautiful afternoon, a father and his little boy Mikey decided to go for a walk together. The birds were singing, a gentle breeze danced through the trees, and the sun peeked through the leaves like rays of gold. But as they walked, Dad's phone rang. He had a long talk with his friend, then checked a few messages as they continued down the road.

[00:01:14] Meanwhile, little Mikey was on the path. Meanwhile, little Mikey was discovering a whole different world. Dad, look! A tiny ladybug crawled across a leaf. A butterfly floated through the air. Two squirrels chased each other around a tree. A bird was carrying little twigs to build a nest. Every few steps, there seemed to be something wonderful to discover.

[00:01:41] The little boy's a little boy. The little boy smiled so often, he almost forgot where they were walking. Everything around him felt like an adventure! When Dad finally slipped his phone back in his pocket, he noticed his son standing completely still.

[00:02:01] He was quietly watching a butterfly rest on a bright yellow flower. For a moment, Dad stopped too. They stood there together, without saying a word. Just watching. Just noticing. Just enjoying the moment. Dad smiled. Then he gently asked, Hey, my little buddy. How did I miss all these beautiful things?

[00:02:31] The little boy looked up with a grin and said, They've always been here, Dad. Sometimes we just forget to look. I'm glad you're looking now. Friends, children have a beautiful way. I've seen wonder. Sometimes we help grown-ups remember how to see it too. Slowing down isn't falling behind.

[00:03:49] A thankful heart! Wow! Sometimes we think being thankful only means saying thank you. That's right, but gratitude is much bigger than good manners. It's learning to notice the blessings God places in our lives every day. Yes! Sometimes they're big, sometimes they're wonderfully small.

[00:04:14] A hug, a bedtime story, a favorite song, a loved one that makes you laugh. Yes! The more we notice our blessings, the more thankful our hearts become. That's a good one. Have you ever noticed that two people can have the very same day, but remember it differently? Oh yes!

[00:04:40] One remembers every problem, but one remembers every blessing. Thankful heart doesn't just pretend life is always easy. That's right! A thankful heart doesn't pretend that life is always easy. It chooses to keep looking for the good that God is still doing. I like how the Bible says, Give thanks in all circumstances.

[00:05:07] 1 Thessalonians 5, verse 18. That doesn't mean every circumstance is easy. It means God is still with us. And we can always find reason to thank Him. So friends, imagine it's raining. Your outdoor plans change. You feel disappointed. But your mom builds a blanket fort with you. Reads stories together.

[00:05:38] And laughs until your cheeks hurt. What first looked like disappointment, becomes one of our favorite memories. Back to that story, friends! The next afternoon, Dad asked Mikey if they could take another rock. This time, Dad didn't even bring his phone. As they walked, the little boy pointed toward a bird building its nest.

[00:06:07] Dad smiled. I've never noticed that before. A few minutes later, they found a heart-shaped rock for Mom. Then, a line of busy little ants. Then wildflowers dancing in the breeze. The rock wasn't any different from the day before. The path was the same. The trees were the same. The birds were the same. That's right!

[00:06:34] The only thing that changed was where Dad was looking. Instead of looking down, he was looking up. Instead of being distracted, he was fully present. When they reached home, Dad gave little Mikey a big hug. You know something? Today wasn't wonderful because we found amazing things. It was wonderful because I got to see the world through your eyes.

[00:07:02] Friends, sometimes children teach grown-ups important lessons too. When we slow down, look up and notice God's beautiful gifts. Ordinary days become extraordinary memories. And sometimes, the greatest blessing isn't what we discover. It's who we're sharing it with. A thankful heart doesn't have more blessings than anyone else.

[00:07:31] It simply learns how to notice them in everyday little things. Things that others sometimes take for granted. Did you know when we regularly practice gratitude, our brains become better at noticing joyful and encouraging moments. That's one reason thankful people often bring hope wherever they go. We like to practice gratitude every morning.

[00:08:00] It's a special way to count all our blessings. It could be really anything. Your family, the way you feel, your health, your legs to run around, the yummy food you get to eat, the water for bathing and drinking. There are so many things to be grateful for. You could always name a few every morning or night. That's right. Do you know what time it is, friends?

[00:08:29] It's time! It's time to bring your brave thoughts. And if you don't know how to write yet,

[00:09:00] it's like our friend, Lily the Lion. She loves to draw all her thoughts and ideas. Remember, there are no wrong answers here. This is your journey. Your first question is, what are three blessings God gave me today? We talked about this. Maybe you're grateful for your family, learning something new, nature, creativity. Ooh, can I say some?

[00:09:29] Of course. Go ahead. Bird singing, watermelons to eat, or simply another... Those are good! Especially the watermelon one. I love watermelons. Don't even get me started on those. I would love to eat one, even right now. Listen, friends. Heroes don't just change the world by doing great things.

[00:09:59] Sometimes they change the world by seeing it with grateful eyes. That's right. One thankful thought. One thankful prayer. One thankful heart, one day at a time.
