A MOTHER'S SUCCESS CHANGES MORE THAN HER LIFE! (Part 9)

A MOTHER'S SUCCESS CHANGES MORE THAN HER LIFE! (Part 9)

🎙️ EPISODE 351 A MOTHER'S SUCCESS CHANGES MORE THAN HER LIFE!

What Our Children See When We Help Mothers Build

ENTREPRENEUR PARENTS PODCAST BECOMING UNSHAKABLE: MOMS SUPPORTING MOMS — EPISODE 9 | SERIES FINALE Hosted by Dan Caldwell and Ildiko Ferenczi

What does a child learn when they watch their mother build something meaningful?

They may see the finished product, the customer, the opportunity, or the exciting email. But they are also watching everything that came before it: how she responds when something does not work, how she speaks about herself after disappointment, whether she asks for help, receives feedback, changes the plan, tries again, celebrates someone else, and keeps going.

In the final episode of our Moms Supporting Moms series, we talk about why a mother's success can reach far beyond her own life. When we support mothers who are building businesses, careers, ministries, creative work, families, and meaningful ideas, the ripple effect can reach children, marriages, communities, and future generations.

This is not simply a conversation about women succeeding. It is about what our children learn while they watch us build.

❤️ A MOTHER'S SUCCESS RARELY STOPS WITH HER

A mother's breakthrough is often connected to people who helped along the way. Another mother may have tested her first idea, a friend may have made an introduction, a customer may have offered feedback, or her husband may have handled bedtime so she could finish the work.

One small act of support can become part of someone else's breakthrough. We may never know which encouraging word, protected hour, introduction, or honest conversation helped another mother keep going. That does not make the act small. It makes it part of something bigger.

📖 BIBLE MOMENT: PROVERBS 31:16

Proverbs 31:16 describes a woman who considers a field, purchases it, and uses what she earns to plant a vineyard. She considers. She decides. She invests. She plants. And then there is time between planting and seeing the fruit.

Not everything we are building will look impressive immediately. If you are in a planting season, do not confuse an unseen vineyard with a meaningless seed. Some things need time before anyone can see what they are becoming.

✍️ JOURNAL MOMENT

Ask yourself: What do I hope my children learn by watching me work?

Then ask what they are actually seeing. Do they see you ask for help? Receive feedback? Rest? Celebrate someone else? Thank the people who helped you? Do they understand who your work is meant to serve?

Choose one age-appropriate part of what you are building and invite your child into it this week. Show them the sketch. Explain why you changed something. Tell them about the person you hope to help. Let them ask questions.

They may already be paying much closer attention than you realize.

👑 THE FINAL LEGACY CHALLENGE

For the final Legacy Challenge of our Moms Supporting Moms series, do two things.

First, tell one mother something specific you have watched her do well. Not simply, "You're amazing." Tell her what you noticed: how she handled a difficult customer, started again after disappointment, improved her offer, or kept showing up during a difficult season.

Second, if you are building something, allow your child to see one healthy, age-appropriate part of the process. Tell them what you are learning and why the work matters. Let them ask a question.

One of the greatest legacies we can give our children may be allowing them to witness what it looks like to become capable.

❤️ FINAL ENCOURAGEMENT

Someday your child may not remember the exact product you sold or the size of the order. They may not remember how many emails you sent before someone finally said yes.

But they may remember watching you keep your word. They may remember you asking for help instead of pretending you knew everything. They may remember their father saying, "I've got bedtime. Go finish what you need to finish."

They may remember seeing you disappointed and then watching you learn.

They may remember that success in your home was never simply about having more. It was about becoming more capable with what God placed in your hands: more responsible, more generous, more courageous, and more willing to serve.

And years from now, when your child faces a moment when their own first attempt does not work, something familiar may rise inside them.

They will remember what they saw.

We learn. We adjust. We ask questions. We help one another. And we keep building.

That is legacy.

[00:00:01] Imagine for a moment a little boy walking into the kitchen after his class. He just came home from class, he's walking in and his mother is standing by the corner reading an email on her phone. She reads it twice. And then she covers her mouth with her hand. And he notices, Mom, what happened?

[00:00:28] She turns the phone toward him. A large company has placed an order for something she created. Something she first sketched in a notebook just a little while ago while he was doing homework beside her.

[00:00:45] He looks at the screen, then slowly back at her. They want your idea? She laughs because he sounded more surprised than she did. They do. And for a moment, that is all there is. A mother and her child standing in a kitchen try to take in what just happened.

[00:01:10] And the little boy has just learned something in the months leading up to this email. He has seen his mother ask for help. He has watched her listen when the very first version did not work. He has heard his father say, I've got this. I got bedtime. You go finish what needs to be finished. I've got dinner. He was supporting.

[00:01:39] His mother. He's watching his mother. All through kindness. Even when she had moments of shaky ground. Always with love, kindness, support. And now he's watching his mother receive phenomenally good news.

[00:01:57] Years from now, he may forget what she sold. But we can agree on this together. That he will remember what he learned about going out there in the world and trying. Get ready, friends. Grab your loved ones. Grab your favorite snack. If this is your time alone, enjoy it.

[00:02:23] We're about to have an incredible conversation. Let's go.

[00:03:12] Welcome back to Becoming Unshakeable brought to you by the Entrepreneur Parents Podcast. I am so glad that you're here for the final conversation in our Mom Supporting Mom's mini series. I'm your host, Ildiko Ferenczi. And again, I'm grateful that you're here. I'm grateful that you're returning. And if it's your first time here, welcome to the family.

[00:03:37] So far, we've talked about showing up before a mother has a success story to tell. We've talked about taking her work seriously, staying close when things go wrong. Sometimes they do and that's okay. And also helping her learn from what happened. Today, I want to follow that support a little further. What changes when a mother has the chance to keep going?

[00:04:07] What might her children see? These are the questions. What else might benefit from what she builds? I think about this as a mother. A mother in our community. Our community has the same mindset, the same thoughts about this when it comes to protecting our children. I'm very protective, as all of you.

[00:04:35] I'm protective of what my children hear. I'm protective of what they watch. And the people who have influence in their lives. Words can stay with a child for years. So can the things we let them witness at home and around us. I want my children to witness people helping one another become capable. Not lecturing, not putting them down, not negativity.

[00:05:04] I want them to just fully be able to understand that the people that surround us, that we allow into our circle, want the best for us. That are cheering for us. Not trying to talk it down behind our backs. This kind of influence is important. So remember that boy in the kitchen?

[00:05:33] Not only did he see the happy email, he saw what came before it. Perhaps he saw his mother make a sample and discover that it wasn't quite right and it needed work. Perhaps he heard her say, that's helpful. I have not thought of that. I haven't even thought of it that way. Thank you so much.

[00:05:57] After someone gave her honest feedback, perhaps he saw her take the idea serious enough to improve it. To be humble enough to add to the idea, to add to the vision. That matters to me because children are forming their ideas about what adults do when something is difficult. Do they freak out?

[00:06:27] Do they take their difficulties out on others when others give them, I don't know, not constructive criticism, but when others come at them and they hold up the image in front of them, taking in the negative advice or the negative words. How do they treat their family after those calls of pressure?

[00:06:52] Listen, if every setback in our home becomes a reason to call ourselves unintelligent or take it out on others, they hear that. If we can say things like, I'm disappointed. I need a little more time. And maybe if I just really focus on this for a moment, I'm going to step back, not be so attached to it.

[00:07:22] Then I'm going to find out what I can learn. They hear all those things too. We don't have to make our children watch every stressful decision. They deserve the safety of being children. 100%. I stand by that. But they can see us handle a small problem. Right? They can see us apologize.

[00:07:51] They can see us keep our head level. They can see us ask questions, make a new plan. Try again when something has... We don't like to use the word failure or mistake because it's a lesson. So it's not a big deal. We want our children to see that that's not a big deal. We don't want them to hide the mistake, to feel like it's failure because they get...

[00:08:19] They've seen their parents get scolded about going after something or doing something and not making the right decision. And they feel like they have to hide those things or treat it with shame or guilt because it was more financially burdensome or whatever it may be. We want them to see us level-headedly work through these things.

[00:08:46] That's a lesson that they may use in the classroom of life long before they ever think about starting a business. So it's just going to become second nature for them. I keep telling everyone, I cannot thank my mother enough.

[00:09:13] If I could, I would kiss her feet for bringing me on the journey. By the way, I used to give her amazing foot rubs, the most amazing foot massages and back... Whatever I had to do. I spoiled that woman because I cannot explain how including me in her journey as a child,

[00:09:41] how including us as children in that journey and letting us be a part of it and make decisions has poured into me, affected me in a way that I would never have learned this stuff in school. And I chose business and maybe I'm not the best at the numbers part or other parts of...

[00:10:08] Because you don't have to be 100% great in every part of the business. There's people for that. And we learn lessons, right? But the way I communicate with people, the creativity aspect, there's so... And let me just tell you that my mom could calculate things in her head. I was just telling my husband the other day about how she calculated things in her head.

[00:10:33] When I bought my first vehicle, she would always ask to be there or purchasing homes because she could calculate the stuff in her head. So I could lean into her with that. They may think of her as, oh, she's got an accent. She's a woman. She doesn't understand the financial bits of this. Oh, she was so good. And she taught me so much with that.

[00:10:57] Well, anyway, back to what we're talking about today is that these things are going to stay with our children. Let them learn. Even just a little bit. Let them hear the conversations. Okay, if you're not that person that wants to build with the family and you're going after this thing on your own, let them have a taste like that little boy in the kitchen.

[00:11:22] Now go back to that large company order for a moment that happened for this family. Imagine the mother calling the friend who introduced her to the company, right? Because we got to surround ourselves with people like that, that help us open doors. Not just give us judgmental advice, but to actually truly help us climb the ladder.

[00:11:48] Not just criticize us or lecture us when we've fallen down or are at the bottom of the ladder. I think they're going to place it. That's what she said. That's what she said. That's what she said a few weeks earlier. Would you take a look at the proposal before I send it? Please just take a look. I trust you. I trust you. I trust your judgment.

[00:12:16] I know that you can, you can help me smooth out the wrinkles if there is any. Her friend had read it. She pointed out one sentence that did not explain the product clearly. And they fixed it together. Another mother tested the first version and told her where her child could become confused.

[00:12:45] I'm just saying it could have been a company that created something for children. Huge company. At home, her husband made room for the work to be done. He supported her. He helped her. Cleared the way. Took on some responsibilities.

[00:13:09] And remember, I tell my son this all the time. That you're not helping mom because one day you just need to understand how to cook. You need to understand how to take care of yourself. Clean up after yourself properly. Because you're going to be doing this stuff in your home by yourself. So when you get married, you're going to just split the duties.

[00:13:37] You're going to split these things. It's not her job. It's our job because we're a team. And then when the orders arrive, it has her name on it. She did the work. She also knows who helped her get it right. She's not going to forget that.

[00:14:04] She's not, what is it, self-made. She understands who poured into her to get this going. That is one of the joys of supporting another mother, another family, another husband. We get to see what becomes possible when our small act of care meets their hard work.

[00:14:29] An introduction can lead to a conversation that can lead to big things. A few thoughtful questions can improve an offer. A few protected hours at home that dad takes on or mom takes on can give her room to finish it. Whoever's building.

[00:14:53] I know this is the episode for moms, but in our family, we're building together. So we kind of take turns, right? Well, my husband can do what he's good at. I could do what I'm good at. And then we have the hours where we all do what we're good at together. It's a very interesting flow and dynamics.

[00:15:17] But whoever is doing that thing, you better believe that Jesse, Jesse, who locked down multi-millions of dollars right now with her course. Her husband was carrying some stuff in the background. Her mother was helping her do some stuff in the background.

[00:15:41] Maybe her father, her family was supporting her so she could do this God-given calling. And she even gave the glory to God, which was so beautiful. Listen, we may never know which moment made the difference, but we can still be generous with the moments that are available to us to pour into someone else, right? We can do that for others.

[00:16:08] And sometimes it's something very small. Maybe you're really good with numbers. Maybe you're really good with something creatively and you see a missing piece in the product. But it doesn't mean that you take the glory. I did it. I helped you. I helped you back the boxes. I'm a part of that company. That's called riding coattails. That's yucky.

[00:16:40] So when a mother has a decision to make, what will she do with this new opportunity? What will she do? Where does success go next? She may use the earnings to ease a bill that has been weighing on the family. She may pay someone else's help.

[00:17:08] She may be able to, what is it, handsomely pay for the help that she's leaning into. Sometimes people believe in the mission so much that they will donate their time because they believe in the mission. So now, say mom can finally afford to help whoever it is that believes in them, the marketing or whatever it is, whoever's doing this stuff behind the scenes.

[00:17:36] She may be able to set some aside so her next order does not require a leap that her family cannot afford. Maybe one afternoon she can close her laptop and go to the park with her son because she's built a little more room into the week.

[00:17:58] Or maybe, like our family got to do, because when we work together, maybe she'll be able to go on an annual vacation with her family and build some memories that they're never going to forget. Those choices will be different for every family. I don't want to promise that one order changes everything because it doesn't always.

[00:18:26] But a mother's success can give a family more choices. It could create work for another person, another family. It can put something useful into hands of a customer. And when a child sees where the money and effort goes, success becomes more than just an exciting number to see on a screen. They begin to understand stewardship.

[00:18:56] We earned this. What does our family need? What should we save? Where do we spend? How could we serve someone else? Who can we help? Remember, I was talking about this the other day about thinking that perhaps, perhaps some people have stewarded their money incorrectly.

[00:19:24] They may have given it to the people that they thought that they should give it to when really it belonged in the hands of someone else. And sometimes you get the blessing of coming to rock bottom and realizing, realizing, stepping back, looking, looking ahead. Who's actually trying to help you to lift you and who's not?

[00:19:54] Well, those conversations, all of it, all the things that they witness is going to help a child grow into who they will become in the future. This is all valuable stuff. And I want to take you to a Bible moment right now.

[00:20:20] Because there is a picture here that we could keep coming back to. And it's in the book of Proverbs chapter 31, verse 16. It states, She considers a field and buys it. Out of her earnings, she plants a vineyard.

[00:20:52] We're reading about a woman who considers a field and buys it. From what she earns, she plants a vineyard. Think about the care in that. She considers the field. She makes a decision. And then she puts the fruit of her work toward something that can grow.

[00:21:19] I don't hear a command that every mother has to own a business. That's not what I hear or every family or... I hear a reminder that a woman can make a thoughtful decision with what is in her hands. I love that the vineyard is planted. There is work between the decision and the fruit.

[00:21:47] If you are in that part of the story right now, please hear me. A seed can be worth caring for even when no one can see the vineyard yet. Right? Oh, so good. It's so good. Grab your journal. Grab your journal and something to write with.

[00:22:14] If you have that journal nearby and you're ready, take a moment with this. And if you're driving, your hands are full with the baby, changing a diaper. You can come back to it later for cooking dinner. I know a lot of you like to listen to the show and make dinner. Before you reach for that coffee, consider this. What if the energy boost you're looking for isn't in your cup but in your cells?

[00:22:42] I challenge you to swap your morning coffee for Shilajit by Symbiotica. And here's what can happen. No crash. No jitters. Just clean, sustained energy. Plus mental clarity and trace minerals that our bodies actually need. That are actually starving for, to be honest. This isn't just a supplement.

[00:23:08] It's an ancient adaptogen sourced from the Himalayas that supports mycochondrial function, stamina, and overall vitality. Your coffee never did that. Okay? Let's just be honest. Try it for a week and tell me your body doesn't thank you. Symbiotica's Shilajit is next level wellness. And honestly, you may never go back to drinking coffee.

[00:23:34] Click the link below down in the bio and get your Shilajit today. I want to begin with the mother who's building. That's where I want to land right now. Write down what you hope your children will understand as they watch you work. If you're a family building together, father, make this work for you. I know this is the mom's series, but you can make it work for you.

[00:24:04] Then be honest about what they are seeing in this season. Do they see you ask for help when you need it? Or try to carry it by yourself? What are the conversations that they see or hear? And do they see you make room for rest? Are you running yourself to the ground? Running your... What is it? Running...

[00:24:34] Running yourself... Ragged? Hopefully not. I hope not. I know we're all guilty of it. Do they know what the work is helping you build? Or whom it's meant to serve? You know, we're serving families much like ourselves. The children are serving children like themselves, planting seeds of greatness.

[00:25:02] That's what our family is doing. There may be one small part of the process you could invite them into this week. This very week. Today, you can start today. Take a step back and look at what that is. It may be showing them a sketch. Asking which question on a page makes sense to them. Or letting you...

[00:25:32] Letting... Let me think. Letting them hear you thank someone who helped you. That's good. That's good. Or putting aside a couple colors for a new product. The font. Maybe watching the video you created. Whatever it is, you'll be surprised. I'm so grateful for my mom that let us help her with decisions growing up in the business.

[00:26:01] I have my children be a part of this. And now think about another mother or father or family whose work has grown while you have been close enough to see the effort behind it. Have you told her that you noticed?

[00:26:24] And if you have the chance to help her take one more step, what could you offer that could actually be useful for her? Leave room on the page for your answer. And these answers don't have to be grand. It doesn't have to be the final word, the final say.

[00:26:49] And if something else comes to your heart and to your mind that you feel needs to be poured out onto that page because it's important, then do that. I always say when you make a decision, pray over it. Pray over it. If you're in this season and you're looking for the answers, pray over it. The answers will come.

[00:27:15] Not in a loud and booming way, so you have to really, really listen for it. For our final legacy challenge in this series, I'd love for you to do two things. First, tell one mother what you have watched her do well. And be specific. Maybe she handled a hard customer conversation with grace. I can't help it. I have to.

[00:27:44] My mom was so good at that. Sometimes people would come in so angry, wanting to be the enemy, and they would become her friend. She would talk to them in a way where they would tell all their friends how wonderful her business is. That's an example that I got to witness.

[00:28:06] That's why I'm so good at negotiating and talking to people and understanding their story and their problems. I love it. I love it. I'm grateful for it. Or maybe this mother, maybe she improved a product because she listened. Right? Maybe she kept a promise when it would have been easier to walk away.

[00:28:36] That's one of the biggest things I learned in business. Keep your word. In marriage, with family, keep your word. Keep your word. It means everything. It's your character. Let her know you saw it. Let this mother know that you saw it, that you saw all those things that we just talked about.

[00:29:01] Second, if you're building something, let your child see even just one age-appropriate part of the work this week. As I said, starting today. Tell them what you're learning or why you care about it or how it's going to help people. Give them a chance to ask you a question. You might be surprised by what they have already noticed.

[00:29:29] Maybe there's already so much feedback that they could give you and you're going to be surprised. I know I am. I know my mother was. I want to return to that kitchen for a moment. The one that we imagined. The little boy has gone to find his father. He's calling down the hallway. They want mom's idea. Imagine it. He's so excited.

[00:29:56] She's still by the counter with her phone in her hand, shaking. My gosh, I can't believe this finally happened for my family. Soon there will be details to handle. She will need to check the order, work out the timing, and make sure that she can deliver what she had promised. But for now, she lets herself enjoy it. She worked so hard for it. She enjoys it.

[00:30:25] She's got to enjoy it. Come on. Come on. Wouldn't you? And when the friend who helped her with the proposal answers the phone when she calls and she gets to say, it happened. Can you picture the joy of her friend on the other end? That is the part of what we've been talking about through this series. A mother gets the opportunity.

[00:30:55] Her family shares the moment. This could be life-changing. Think Poppy. Think Elizabeth's. The cereal. Think of all these companies. It started with a sketch. It started with a little problem solved. And what it turned into.

[00:31:13] And the people who helped this mother in our imagination, the people who helped her get there, get to celebrate too. May we be the people who are glad to receive that call. Excited.

[00:31:35] And may we build homes where our children hear us celebrate good things happening to others. Not talking behind their backs. I can't believe that they're going to go through with this idea. It's so silly. And then when it works out, how do they look? Not very good. And your children, they're going to experience that.

[00:32:05] They made their first million. A few years back, they got their first million downloads on the podcast. And now where are they? Whatever it is, we have to be careful, okay? The way we talk in front of our witnesses. Because they're going to make a decision of how we talk about others. How we celebrate others.

[00:32:33] On that note, let's come into prayer together. What do we say when two or more come together? Let us pray together. Dear Heavenly Father, God, thank you for the mothers who have shared their gift with the world. And for those still finding the courage to begin. Give them the nudge to go out there.

[00:33:00] Thank you for every person who has offered help. Spoken an honest word with kindness, with love. Or made room at home for important work. Give us wisdom to care for what you have entrusted to us. Help us teach our children how to try. How to learn.

[00:33:29] How to treat people well along the way. Even if they're at rock bottom. Even if they're at the top, in the middle. The messy middle. For the mother who has good news today. Let her receive it with gratitude and joy. For the mother still waiting. Give her strength for the work in front of her.

[00:33:56] And send her people who will walk beside her. Send those families. Send those families. People who will walk beside them. Show each of us how to be generous with the gifts we have. To turn it into a blessing for others. We say this in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. Thank you for being here through this mini-series for moms.

[00:34:25] Supporting moms. It was a good series. It really was. I'm so grateful to have met so many of you new mothers out there. Actually in this season. Husbands supporting mothers that are building something great. Thank you for sharing your ideas. I'm praying over them. Praying over your families. If a mother has helped you build. Tell her. Or another family.

[00:34:55] If they've helped you. Tell them. This isn't a one-man show. God sends earth angels into your life. Let them know that you appreciate them. If you have been quietly cheering for someone. Let her hear it from you. Don't keep it behind the scenes. And if this episode brought a particular mother to mind. A family to mind.

Follow the Entrepreneur Parents podcast. Leave five golden stars. This is the one little thing that you can do for this free content. I'm pouring into you. And I appreciate that so much.
